Position Summary:
Under the guidance of the Chief Learning Officer and Senior Accreditation Manager, the Quality of Practice Specialist reviews case studies submitted for AIUM accreditation or reaccreditation, educates applicants on non-compliant findings, evaluates the quality of submitted applications, and supports AIUM committees and quality initiatives. The role also provides technical expertise and contributes to the development of educational and quality-related content for the AIUM.
Responsibilities:
- Review case study submissions in accordance with AIUM Practice Parameters and case study requirements and evaluate application documents for completeness and quality.
- Provide education and guidance to practices regarding non-compliant findings.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to conflict-of-interest requirements.
- Provide telephone and email support to applicants, including updates and technical assistance.
- Offer technical input to support AIUM initiatives, committees, and applicants.
- Participate in Ultrasound Practice Accreditation Council (UPAC) meetings and support UPAC in advancing quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Assist with the development, review, and maintenance of AIUM Official Statements.
- Serve as staff liaison to committees as assigned (e.g., Bioeffects Committee, Clinical Standards Committee, IEC, Technical Standards Committee, and related subcommittees).
- Provide basic and technical Q&A support to practices seeking or maintaining accreditation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education/Knowledge/Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of full-time experience as a sonographer. Associate or bachelor's degree strongly preferred
- Active ARDMS certification in multiple specialties (ARRT Sonography).
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
- Ability to learn and navigate proprietary computer databases.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating strong teamwork skills.
- Professional experience working in a practice accredited by AIUM is preferred
- Must be willing to consistently learn, adapt, and contribute to ongoing improvements in accreditation and quality processes.
- AIUM membership is a plus.
Other:
- Location: Work in a hybrid environment, with required on-site work at the Maryland office – Laurel, MD.
- Some travel could be required. Ability to travel to meetings, events, and seminars.
- Compensation: based on experience, salary range for the position is $70,000-$80,000
